I loved this episode of Community. I’ve loved nearly every episode of community this season because this show is so random and hilarious because it doesn’t try too hard. It’s just pure silliness mixed in with some pretty hilarious jokes and mockeries (not to mention all the awesome pop culture references!) Now I will admit, I think Jeff and Britta are really boring and I loved it last season when Jeff and Annie made out. So this episode was amazing for someone like me. I love Jeff and Annie when they are just goofing off. These two have amazing chemistry together that its almost electrifying. Another set of characters that have insane chemistry together and have since the beginning: Troy and Abed. So I was thrilled that this episode, Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design, focused on these two pairings.
Jeff and Annie’s storyline revolved around conspiracy theories. Jeff made up a fake class that was about the history of conspiracy theories under the instruction of Professor Professorsin. Dean Pelton caught on to this scam and he went out of his way to catch Jeff. The whole episode revolved around Jeff and Annie, the Dean, and the Theater professor (played by the wonderful Kevin Corrigan, recently seen in Unstoppable) and them all trying to one-up the other. I especially loved when the toy car that Annie was using for her demo for green week blew up leading Jeff to tackle Annie to the floor to save her. It was all very cleverly done in the ways that only Community and Dan Harmon can pull of so eloquently.
It led to a dramatic finish where Jeff, Annie, the Dean, and theater guy all had fake guns and pretended to shoot each other. I felt like this episode of community was better at getting to the conspiracy plot then Rubicon had ever done.
Troy and Abed had an early start to their weekend and decided to build a blanket fort. However they decided to expand their fort and everyone else in the dorm caught on. They ended up making an entire fort town that had everything from a Civil Rights Museum to a Latvian Independence Parade to a Turkish district. It perfectly balanced out Annie and Jeff’s conspiracy storyline.
This show really is one of the best comedies on television. Everything about it is very original and creative and hilarious. The characters are excellent and balance each other out and it is always pleasant to watch. I am very glad that this season has not disappointed me yet and I don’t think it will! Now on to some of the best quotes:
Jeff: I’m proud of Annie. She took to deception like Abed took to Cougar Town.
Abed: It’s good.
Troy to Britta “Enjoy eating fiber and watching The Mentalist.
Jeff: This is going to be the worst book I read cover to cover.
Professor Professorin: My family name was Professorberg, but we changed it when we were fleeing from the Nazis.
Annie: There’s a conspiracy here. A dark, vast conspiracy that just may that go all the way to the top.
Jeff: This is Greendale, Annie. If there is a conspiracy, it goes to slightly above the middle.
Jeff: Once it was obvious that the Dean had orchestrated everything it was even more obvious that the Dean was too stupid to orchestrate anything.
