What is there to say about last night’s Glee tribute to the one and the only Britney Spears? To be honest I have no idea because last night may have been the most ridiculous episode of Glee that I have seen yet. It had no real plot and the story kind of felt forced and I also feel this would have made a better fourth or fifth episode, as opposed to the second on back. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it. But then again, you won’t see this episode being nominated for an Emmy anytime soon. However, last night Heather Morris was truly is exceptional.
The episode revolved around trips to the Dentist. Yes I actually just said that and I meant it literally. Emma’s new boy toy Carl (the amazing John Stamos, and is it just me or is he someone who has actually gotten HOTTER as he has gotten older? I THINK SO!) comes in to talk to our Glee clubbers about dental hygiene. At the same time the Glee Club is trying to get Mr. Shue to let them do a Britney number. In which both Brittany (Heather Morris) and Mr. Shue object. Carl then insists that Brittany, Rachel, and Artie all come in to see him because they all have massive Cavities. Brittany has an astonishingly 68 cavities. Is that even possible? Anyways, Carl’s laughing gas has a hallucinogen in it that makes Brittany, Santana, Rachel, and Artie all dream about doing Britney music videos, in which, the one and only, Britney Spears has cameos.
Now while this episode, structurally, was not great it did produce some of the best one liners and cast songs this show has had. The cast’s version of Britney’s Toxic may have been better than the original. I have to say it’s up there with their renditions of Don’t Stop Believing, Somebody to Love, and Like a Prayer. I was an awesome collaboration of sound and was way better than last week’s Empire State of Mind. They truly were a wall of sound during their performance of Toxic.
Then, there was also Rachel’s rendition of Paramore’s The Only Exception. This was the only non-Britney song sung this hour. It was beautiful and I almost think Lea Michele sings this song better than Haley Williams. I’m not trying to dis Ms. Williams here but, Lea’s voice was purely outstanding and the emotion she put into the song was incredible. I don’t care that she is a Diva, I just love hearing her sing.
Anyways, hopefully now that the Britney episode is out of the way, Glee can go back to their story and how they are supposed to reach Nationals this year.
I’m a Slave 4 U: B+
Heather Morris can SING! Maybe not as well as Lea or Amber Riley, but Wow she is pretty awesome! I loved her in all of the Britney suits, it was very awesome
Me Against the Music: A
This was awesome. Both of these ladies have wonderful chemistry and their dancing was awesome. Bones points for Britney’s cameo at the end in which Brittany states: “You are so Hot”
I love seeing Artie have solo’s, it makes me happy!
As I have already stated, this was defiantly one of Glee’s best numbers to date. Great sound, dancing, and costumes. I loved every minute.
The Only Exception: A
It was nice to finally had one Britney free song this episode, and it was great closer to the Rachel-Finn story-arc this episode.
